Thank God it’s Friday and more so because it is Good Friday. Some of us used to sacrifice eating meat and settle with fish or nothing at all as a wave of gratitude to God for sending his son to die for us without really understanding the depth, reason or significance of the sacrifice, but we thank God for insight.
There is no doubt that God loves us; for when we were still without strength, at the right time Christ gave his life for evil-doers. Now it is hard for anyone to give his life even for an upright man, though it might be that for a good man someone would give his life. But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were still sinners, Christ gave his life for us. Romans 5:8
Why would God die for undeserving people and be patient enough to restore us back to Himself? It’s beyond me, but all the same, I am truly thankful for His mercies, because… It is a true saying, in which all may put their faith, that Christ Jesus came into the world to give salvation to sinners, of whom I am the chief. 1 Tim 1:15
A song comes to mind: “I am not my own, I was bought with a price, I was purchased with the precious blood of Jesus Christ…” it’s amazing, we are no longer lost, we’ve been found and are adopted by the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Omnipotent , never changing God whom we now have the right to call Abba Father… and if we are children, we have a right to a part in the heritage; a part in the things of God, together with Christ; so that if we have a part in his pain, we will in the same way have a part in his glory. Romans 8:17
Now let’s share this love around by telling someone how they can also be part of this great family where God the creator is THE FATHER...for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
I also encourage us to reflect on God’s love, our relationship with Him and our purpose (not only this period but every day of our lives). We have a lot to be thankful for; we have hope, we have a future, we can look forward to tomorrow and beyond regardless of what we know is happening around us, all because He looked down on us, saw us in our worst state and loved us all the same enough to come down and redeem us. He is truly “all that and more!”
Are we truly and eternally thankful for all God has done? We should take time out to tell Him exactly how we feel, how we can’t possible thank Him enough and how much we love Him. We know God loves to hear such things; He won’t make us say them, but He is always thrilled to hear them from sincere children…
Have an enjoyable, memorable and commendable Easter Celebration.
