Here At Last

I was reading through a devotional today and it struck! This morning I was praying to God for a word, actually the prayer started last night at a prayer meeting. We were told to ask God for a word concerning situations in our lives. I thought, what an on point prayer point. I’ve been seeking the face of God for quite sometime and I needed the word!

Back to topic, while reading the devotional on this site http://www.livingsingle.org/devotional.php?yr=2008&mth=12&day=12 I received the word I was looking for. You might not see how what I’m about to share relates with what is in the devotional but I pray the Holy Spirit reveals the correlation to at least one person, or better still, if nothing else, praise God for me.

Here’s what struck me!

“As believers, we go through obstacles in life but when we know that God is with us in all things we are able to perceive or have an understanding of what He is doing in lives. A God given vision or dream gives us the hope, zeal, drive, passion to keep going even in adversity. Isn't it why we seek and yearn for it? It is the fuel for our engines. As we overcome each stage of life, we become victorious and anticipate greater challenges. It is a God given dream that did not allow Joseph to sleep with Potiphar's wife.” (An excerpt from the devotional)

I’m glad I read this because it shed light on a very important area in my life that I’d love to share. I believe that God is not slack concerning His promises and will do what He has said He’d do (2Pet 3:9), however, here’s what I just found out about myself. While waiting on / for God, I desire to see results so badly that I unconsciously create them for myself, in better words, while I’m waiting for God, I need to see results whether real or fake, by fake I mean even though it is made out in my head, or I create a visual representation of it until God has fulfilled what He promised me. It was frustrating for me to subconsciously/unconsciously hold on to a nonexistent anchor which I realize isn’t God or from Him.

The word I received is Nene wait on God completely and while waiting focus on Him alone. Look up to Him alone and go to Him with any discomforts (not complaints). He is ever ready to hear and help you.

My hope, zeal or drive should come from the vision that God has given me and my comfort from the Lord himself and nothing/no one else. It’s more like, until God has perfected that which he purposed for my life look straight at Him, no side looks, not turn arounds, my gaze should be straight ahead and fixed on Christ.

Patience is indeed a necessity; lack of it gives way to counterfeits. As I wait for God’s plan to be manifest in my life, I pray for the patience to accept God’s timing and ways.

“God revealed to Joseph that His brothers would bow down to Him but He didn't tell him that his brothers would put him in a pit and sell him.” (An excerpt from the devotional)

Why did Joseph go through all that he did before he reached where he was meant to be, I believe because God wanted to prepare him to be the leader he became, God wanted him to attribute all of his success to Him alone and be humble and forgiving. So like the devotional says

“As we go through every phase of our life, we should endure and pray that God give us understanding of what He is teaching us with every situation. We know we are developing as we overcome each stage of our adversity and refinement.”

And like the bible says

“Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. “ James 1:4

"But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 1 pet 1:5-11

I found an article that explains 1 Pet 1:5-11 http://www.centervilleroad.com/articles/add-to-faith.html

“Help cannot come from anywhere but the Lord who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:2

Have a blessed day.
