Separating ourselves from ungoldliness is the conscious necessary effort we need to make to maintain the holy life God expects in other for us to receive all that God has stored up for us and to limitlessly enjoy the works and wonders of God in our lives. According to Romans 12:1 presenting our bodies as living sacrifices requires that our bodies be holy so that it will be acceptable to God which is the way we should worship Him anyway.

Granted, it is Jesus that makes us stand firm, it is His righteousness that we are clothe in that makes it possible to stand in the presence of God, however, it is our responsibility to abstain from anything that will defile the righteousness of Jesus that we have put on, simply put anything that will stain the white garment we have been so graciously given. In Lev 11:44 God commanded the Israelites to consecrate themselves and be holy and not make themselves unclean with any of the things that crawl on the earth, also in Ezra 6:21 the only people who had come out of the captivity that were able to partake of the Passover were the ones that had separated themselves from the filthiness of the heathen of the land to seek the Lord, the God of Israel.

Is it possible to maintain holiness 24/7? Realistically, I think it is otherwise God would not require it, but in the event we have soiled our so precious holy garments, it is our responsibility to get it clean again so that the channel from God to us will not be breached. In Joshua 3:5 Joshua told the people to, "Perform the ceremonies to make yourselves holy because tomorrow the LORD will do miracles among you."

When we maintain our holiness we give God the free access to protect us and fight our battles for us, ungodliness drives God away from our lives and leaves us defenseless which is why in Deut 23:12-14 God commanded Moses to “Choose a place outside the camp where you can go [to relieve yourself]. You must carry a pointed stick as part of your equipment. When you go outside to squat, dig a hole with it. When you're done, cover up your excrement. The LORD your God moves around in your camp to protect you and hand your enemies over to you. So your camp must always be holy. This way, the LORD will never see anything offensive among you and turn away from you.”

May God never approach us and have to turn back because we failed to keep ourselves Holy in Jesus Name.

Finally let us pursue peace with all men and holiness so that we can see God (Heb 12:14)
