We know the God we serve is all knowing, can He be surprised? When we read in Deut 8:2 (New American Standard Bible) that:
“You shall remember all the way which the LORD your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.”
Do we think that God is trying to discover what is in our hearts whether we will keep His commands or not? If God knows all things, then He already knows our reactions/responses to whatever tests He puts us through; he knows our past, present and future thoughts, actions… He knows everything.
God tests us to make us and others aware of who we really are; to reveal to us what is hidden in our hearts that we might not even be aware of. Whenever we are tested we should carefully consider each action/reaction we make, thoughts we have and words we speak. Use it as a learning process to understand where you really stand with God. When taken into the wilderness and the journey is longer than you anticipated it would be and “Behold, you go forward but He is not there, And backward, but you cannot perceive Him; When He acts on the left, you cannot behold Him; He turns on the right, you cannot see Him. Job 23:8-9”. I hope we will remember that God knows the way we take, and I pray we can confidently say “When He has tried me; I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside. I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.” Job 23:10 -12
