Revelations Chapter 2:8-11
We should be aware that as God fearing individuals, the devil is bound to be threatened by us and our destiny and as a result throw trials and persecutions our way. How we respond in and to such circumstances determine our level of faith. The level of faithfulness God desires of us is one that lasts even unto death. When we are faithful unto death, we invariably say my God can even though it seems like he can't. We can say and feel this way regardless of where we are or what we are going through because we know the truth, and the truth is that he definitely can. We know his word says that he will never leave us nor forsake us, so even when it seems like we are all alone, we have confidence that he is there. We are assured that he will never give us or allow to be given us more than we can bear, so when that circumstance seems unbearable we know that if we are already facing it we can bear it. Finally we know that his grace is sufficient for us.
If life were a bed of roses, then God would not have asked us to be faithful even unto death. Frankly speaking, we are lucky that most of our hardships are those common to man, Jesus went through hardships that were uncommon to man, but he persevered even unto death. His apostles went through a lot more than some of us would ever go through but by the grace given unto them from above, they persevered. When we loose faith, we tell God that we understand that he might be God, but we don't think he is capable of seeing us through or we don't think it is worth the stress, the fight or the wait. In other words we make him out to be a liar.
** Acts 14:22- To enter the kingdom of God we must go through many hardships
To the overcomers:
In sum, there are always perks in listening and obeying God, in this case, God is telling us that in other to receive the crown of life, we must be faithful even unto death. When you receive the crown of life, you can be sure that you will not partake or be hurt at all by the second death.
