Jehovah Rapha – The Lifter of our heads
Psalms 34:5 - Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy, no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
Ps 3: 1- 3 - O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." Selah But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
We’ve all been there, the city of downcast. Our hearts have been broken, dreams shattered, hopes dashed, resources depleted, joy stolen, our lights snuffed out. There is no reason to look up, nothing to look up to and even if we want to, we can’t because we are pulled downwards from our faces to our knees; we are pulled towards the earth with our hands clasped together in front of our tearful faces hiding the shame, being accused by our guilt. We’ve taken a journey voluntarily or involuntarily to a strange land and are depressed by what we see there, in our depressive state we sink deeper into melancholy and despondency. We travel deeper because no one stays at the entrance, you either go in and keep going deeper or you leave, but we’ve gone too far, we don’t know the way back.
Have you experienced Jehovah Rapha your healer? He is also the Lifter of your head. The human head symbolizes an individual person, the person in charge and also stands for honor.
The Lifter of your head wants your attention because He is about to lift you. He wants to raise you from a lower position to a higher one, to invigorate or heighten your honor. He desires to revoke the embargo over your life, to take hold of you and move you to a different location. Can you trust Him? Will you let Him? He is good at what He does, and He is the Lifter of your head.
Have you been facing hardships? God will restore you again to life and lift you up from the depths of the earth (Ps 71:20)
You’ve been persecuted justly or unjustly and you’ve cried out and have dried your tear glands in the process, don’t weep anymore, God will lift you above those who rise up against you and will deliver you from your enemies. (Ps 9:13, 18:48)
When the Lifter of your head lifts you up, He places you on a Rock; Himself! He is after all the Rock of Ages, the Firm Foundation… there you will be concealed in the secret place of His tent, well hidden in His tabernacle. (Ps 27:5)
This spells victory for you. Victory over your enemies, victory over every reproach for you have exchanged your burdensome yoke with His, and His is light and easy to bear (Matthew 11:30)
Jehovah Rapha comes in and lifts your face because you might be drowned in your affliction (Job 10:15) and are not able to look up by yourself. You may also be guilt stricken, too guilty to seek help from the only Healer (Ex 9:6)
Beloved, who is lifting up your Head? If it is Jehovah Rapha then know that with the lift comes healing (restoration and comfort)
When God lifts you up, He frees you from every bondage and cage you have been put in. Psalm 24:7 says “Lift up your heads O you gates, be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in”
Gates signifies power and dominion, they are movable barriers used for defense and protection. What gates have separated you from your joy, your breakthrough, you savior? What ancient, ancestral curses have kept you in bondage; I have great news for you. If Jehovah Rapha sets you free, you are free indeed (John 8:36)
My brothers and sisters, while we are in that depressive state where we don’t belong we should“Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street.” (Lamentations 2:18)
As children of the Lifter of Heads, we should be assured of our deliverance, for it is nearer than we expect, our heads should be lifted up in anticipation of what is to come because our redemption is near (Luke 21:28)
After our heads have been lifted, we should bow our faces in reverence to the God who lifted us up!
“And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, lifting up their hands; and they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with faces to the ground.” (Nehemiah 8:6)
