Rev Chapter 2:1-7
As Christians in a race and fighting for the prize, we must frequently set aside time to examine ourselves. We might be on the right track (persevering, hardworking, discerning and intolerant of wicked men), but might have forgotten our first love. Has our devotion to him, our excitement about fellowshipping with him, our total reliance on and love we had for him diminished into a legalistic reverence of his majesty? If so, we need to go back to the days when we treated God like our first love, we need to go back to worshipping and relating to him the way we did when we first met him.
Even though we are still in the "race", it is unacceptable to fall from where we once where because there are repercussions for such attitudes or "falls". Rev Chapter 2:1-7
To the overcomers:
In other words, when we are "hot" for God, when we have a spirit filled burning and desire to be zealous for God and relate to him with the same or more level of excitement and surrender we had when we first met him till he comes, God will give us the right to eat from the tree of life, which resides in his paradise.
